As a customer, what makes your buying decision easier when confronted with several different but similar options like this? 💁🏻♂️ Price? 💁🏼♀️ A market leading name? 💁🏽♂️ Shelf position? 💁🏻♀️ A sale/offer/promotional sign? 💁🏼♂️ Salesperson or friend’s recommendation? 💁🏽♀️ Tried it or another product of the same brand before? But what if you make and sell your own products that are sold in someone else’s store, like a bottle shop if you produce wine? 🍷 How do you ensure your wine stands out? Especially when it sits on a crowded shelf of competitors and you have no control of most of the decision factors mentioned above. How is it that you can become your ideal customers’ preferred choice? 🤷🏻♂️ 👀 What if choice came down to how your product looks? It’s shape, size, colour, label design, packaging, etc. Knowing who your ideal customer is and what they expect/need from a product like yours, is a really useful starting point for the design of your product. It can inform your aesthetic choices of creating your product’s form, packaging, labelling, etc. Investing in design to set you apart in the eyes of your ideal customer, can be just as important as the product within. As a result, it can ultimately help make your customer’s decision easier to choose your product.
